Copying Sketches

If you spend time re-sketching sketches for mating parts or even within a part this tip or trick is for you! It can save a lot of time and can be used for so many different applications.

i would edit the part to be modified in the assembly, then right click edge of rotor (cut extrude?) select tangent edges (loop?) offset theses edges to then produce extrude feature. now have direct link between parts in the assembly - any design revision to rotor will update the location (extrude) feature. would save the effort in defining the copied sketch also. what do you think?

Yes that is a better way of doing it if you want linked features. Sometimes though I copy sketches to save using them again. For example: If you have a common logo that is a cut extrude then you could open another part copy that sketch then use it again in the other part. For the example it would be better to do it as you said. In other applications it is very handy.

yes, good method, i like.
do you ever use library features? for logos and such (any repetitive features). i tend not to, maybe i should get in to the habit?
